Hawks live up to lofty expectationsJun 25, 2013 8:20 AM - The Blackhawks lived up to the lofty expectations their spectacular regular season placed on their shoulders Monday by stunning the Boston Bruins 3-2 at TD Garden to capture their second Stanley Cup championship in four seasons. Bryan Bickell and Dave Bolland scored 17 seconds apart in the final two minutes to pull off one of the most stunning endings in Stanley Cup history. Bickell poked in a pass from Jonathan Toews at 18:44 and Bolland scored during a scramble at 19:01 and -- poof -- instead of getting ready for a Game 7 on Wednesday, the Hawks were hoisting the Cup.

Stan's the man as Hawks construct a winnerJun 24, 2013 11:45 PM - You can't blame Scotty Bowman for feeling like a proud papa. Not after all his son has been through rebuilding a Stanley Cup winning team and being criticized frequently along the way. "To win two Cups at his age? He's going to be 40 on Saturday," Scotty Bowman said. "He's made tough decisions and they're not always popular, but you have to make those decisions based on what's right, not on emotion." And this time no one say can it's not Stan Bowman's team.

Kane, rock-solid Crawford star on grandest stage
Jun 23, 2013 12:33 AM - The bigger the game, the better Patrick Kane plays. The guy who scored in overtime in Philadelphia four years ago to give the Blackhawks their first Stanley Cup in 49 years was at it again Saturday night on the game's grandest stage in the Stanley Cup Final. Kane scored 2 goals to back the rock-solid goaltending of Corey Crawford in a 3-1 win over Boston that moved the Hawks within a game of another championship.

Kane's goals weren't pretty, but they were hugeJun 22, 2013 11:28 PM - When you think of Patrick Kane scoring goals, admit it, you think mainly of the highlight reel variety: the pretty backhands top shelf, or the spin-o-ramas, or even the stop-and-starters that can make a goalie look plain foolish. But rarely do you think of No. 88 scoring the more blue-collar variety goals, like jamming home a rebound on a second effort from the side of the net or cleaning up out front after crashing the crease. But that's just what Kane did Saturday in Game 5 at the United Center, coming up big-time in a big-game with a pair of goals that certainly weren't pretty but sure were effective in leading the Blackhawks to the cusp of yet another Stanley Cup.
