McCarthy, Lisle tackle SenecaOct 10, 2010 12:51 AM - With five minutes remaining in the second quarter of Saturday night's game against Seneca, Lisle senior defensive back Mitch McCarthy made the play that will perhaps define the Lions' season. Facing third-and-14 from its own 37-yard line, Seneca's Tyler Hovious caught a screen pass and a pair of blocks on what looked to be a sure 63-yard score. However, McCarthy refused to abandon the play, sprinting downfield and eventually saving a touchdown by tackling Hovious at the 2-yard line. The Lions (4-3, 4-1 Interstate Eight Conference Small) then held off three Seneca rushes and a pass, keeping the Fighting Irish two scores behind in an eventual 33-6 Lisle victory.
