Bears 'D' up against RamsSep 23, 2012 6:47 PM - The Bears' defense played so well Sunday that it needed only a mediocre performance from the offense to defeat the St. Louis Rams, and that's what it got. The defense allowed just 160 total yards, the third-lowest total in Lovie Smith's nine years as head coach. It sacked Rams quarterback Sam Bradford six times, picked him off twice and scored once, performing almost all the heavy lifting in a 23-6 victory.

Thomas walks away from Bears, NFLAug 5, 2012 8:22 PM - Wide receiver Devin Thomas left the Bears on Sunday morning and has decided to retire from the NFL. "He's not with us anymore," Bears coach Lovie Smith said after Sunday afternoon's practice. "Decided he didn't want to play anymore football." The four-year veteran signed a one-year, $700,000 contract with the Bears in the off-season and was expected to provide depth in the return game and on other special teams in addition to challenging for a backup spot at wide receiver.
