Several DuPage County competitors shine on 2nd day at stateFeb 19, 2022 9:32 PM - Downers Grove co-op's Katrina Carlson and Hinsdale Central's Kelly Klobach finished their senior seasons on the award stand during Saturday's IHSA girls gymnastics individual event finals. Both placed fifth with Klobach improving her vault score to 9.65 from Friday's 9.525 in preliminaries while Carlson scored a 9.125 on beam.

But for the first time since the inception of the state meet in 1977, the meet did not feature a team from the Northwest suburbs. But nearly all the schools were represented Friday, when qualifying for individual events, along with the all-around were contested.

Willis hit two of her best routines to qualify for the finals in floor exercise and balance beam, tied for first all-around and helped set the Wolves up for their fifth team title at the IHSA girls gymnastics state meet Friday at Palatine High School.
