The win snaps a three-game losing streak for Providence, which came in having dropped four of its previous five games. The Friars (17-9, 7-6 Big East) placed five players in double figures with Kadeem Batts scoring 15 points and LaDontae Henton pumping in 13.

Pat Quinn signed a wide-ranging bill that'll put state transportation officials in charge of the hub and allow them to spend $71 million on land. Hopeful talk of a South suburban airport has dominated this economically struggling area since the 1970s and spanned the careers of numerous politicians, including former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. But movement was stalled by fights over local control, revenue and environmental impact, as well as whether it was necessary, given the metropolitan area is already served by two major airports.

Chicago to renovate Navy Pier, build arenaMay 16, 2013 5:21 PM - Mayor Rahm Emanuel is announcing a multi-million dollar renovation plan that includes remodeling Navy Pier and building a 10,000-seat basketball arena near McCormick Place that would be the home court of DePaul University's basketball teams. In a news release on Thursday, Emanuel's office says the first phase of a $278 million project to renovate Navy Pier will begin in the fall and will cost about $166 million.
