Boys soccer: Fremd holds off Morton to reach Class 3A state title gameNov 5, 2021 11:03 PM - In a tense 80-minute thriller Friday night in Hoffman Estates, Fremd and Morton, the top two teams in Class 3A soccer put on a sensational show at Garber Stadium in a state semifinal contest before over 5,500 fans. Eli Schoffstall fired Fremd past Morton and into the 3A state final for the first time since 1997. But it was teammate Robby Remian who came to the rescue to ensure the Vikings' hard-fought 1-0 win, sending the 21-2-1 Mid-Suburban League champions into Saturday's state title game against York at 7 p.m.

Boys soccer: Morton prevails in latest matchup with Naperville North
Nov 2, 2021 10:21 PM - Johnny Murillo did a little sweet talking to Morton teammate Gio Alvarez midway through the first half of Tuesday's Class 3A Lewis University supersectional against familiar foe Naperville North. Murillo convinced Alvarez to allow him to take a free kick just outside of the 18 with 19:19 left to play in the first half, scored on it and it gave the Mustangs the kind of start they needed in a 2-1 victory.

Morton advances past Benet in PKsOct 29, 2021 11:39 PM - Morton goalkeeper Daniel Martinez watched Benet's final penalty kick sail over the crossbar and thrust his arms into the air. Moments later, the senior was mobbed by his teammates as they celebrated a thrilling shootout victory over Benet in the Class 3A Morton sectional final.
