Supporters of Lake Co. Advocacy Center honoredDec 26, 2010 8:56 AM - Lake County State's Attorney Michael Waller recently honored a group of individuals and organizations for their support of the Children's Advocacy Center. Nearly 300 children a year who have been sexually or physically abused receive services from the center, which became the second facility of its kind in the country when it opened in 1987.

Founded in 1980, A Safe Place provides emergency shelter for domestic violence victims, a 24-hour help line, court advocacy and violence prevention education programs.
