Speaking at committee hearing at the Capitol this week, State Representative Tom Weber (R-Lake Villa) spoke out against legislation (House Bill 3281) to add a new regulatory mandate on small businesses by requiring them to accept cash payments.

As a small business owner himself, Weber pointed out that many businesses choose to only accept certain forms of payment for safety and security reasons. He noted even the state of Illinois only allows for electronic payment for certain transactions, and the state needs to stop adding more pressure on small businesses.
