The Kaneland High School Theatre department is proud to present their 2023 spring musical "The Wizard of Oz."

Based on the classic motion picture starring Judy Garland, this story follows the fantastical adventures of Dorothy Gale, a young Kansas girl, who believes happiness must lie somewhere over the rainbow.

When a perilous storm transports Dorothy to such a place, she is faced with the difficult task of finding her way back home. Dorothy's encounter with an evil witch, her journey through magical lands, and the friendships she forges along the way lead her to discover that her true heart's desire was at home all along. Come and experience the story that has captivated audiences for years.

When asked recently why she thinks audiences will enjoy the show, senior Victoria Romano who plays Dorothy Gale in the production said, "I think people will be able to enjoy the classic story they're used to and will be surprised by the new songs that aren't in the movie."

Senior Veronica Regelbrugge who plays Miss Almira Gulch/The Wicked Witch of the West added, "I think audiences will enjoy the twister scene because it is all interpretive dance. There's a lot of great dancing in the show thanks to our amazing choreographer, Paula Frasz."

Due to lighting renovations in the Kaneland High School auditorium, the production will take place on the stage of the Egyptian Theatre, 135 N. Second St. in DeKalb.
