HEParks to offer modified activities and events for families with special needs

Hoffman Estates Park District (HEParks) is unveiling a series of special events and event modifications to support the area's children with sensory needs.
New event - Modified Skate on Feb. 20th from 11 A.M. -12 P.M. at the Triphahn Center and Ice Arena, 1685 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates. This special modified, crowd and music-free skate time is for families who have special needs. Skaters may remain on the rink for the following public skate. Rental skates are available for $3. Walk-in registration is accepted for $7/person. Online registration is $5. Register online at heparks.org using ID# 212099.
A sensory safe space has been added to the Mommy and Son Dance on Feb. 11, at Willow Recreation Center, 3600 Lexington Drive, Hoffman Estates. This space will provide a quiet, calming area with fewer crowds for children and adults. Registration for this event closes Feb. 5. Any adult can attend with children ages 4+. The fee per person is $25 in-district/ $28 out-of-district. Register at any HEParks community center or online at heparks.org with ID# 215902.
