To open its subscription series this season, Chamber Music on the Fox presents the music of two Viennese masters of the romantic era: Johannes Brahms and Anton Bruckner.

Two lifelong bachelors who enjoyed a steep career in Vienna and are best known for their rich, luscious symphonies, audiences will have a chance to hear their more intimate (and lesser known) works of chamber music on Monday evening.

Performing the string quintets of Brahms and Bruckner will be Elgin Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Isabella Lippi, as well as violinist Eric Pidluski, violinists Rebecca Swan and Bruno Silva, and cellist Sara Sitzer.

The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Ashbury, 1 Douglas Ave. in downtown Elgin.

Tickets range from $10 to $20. Tickets can be purchased online at bit.ly/3T4jJhz or at the door.

Additionally, a small number of free tickets are available at the Gail Borden Public Library. Visit attend.gailborden.info/event/7161100 for more information.

The concert will also be recorded for virtual viewing, which will be available to watch online from Oct. 18 to Nov. 1. To purchase a virtual ticket, visit Eventbrite.com.
