The popular, free-admission "Wednesdays @ One" event series resumes Sept. 28 at the historic Baker Community Center in downtown St. Charles, when Laurie Milbourn performs "Comedy Confidential." Register online to attend at www.NorrisCulturalArts.com.

Share some laughs -- and a behind-the-scenes look at the comedy club circuit and some of your favorite TV shows -- with St. Charles' own Laurie Milbourn.

Milbourn has performed stand-up comedy at The Laugh Factory Chicago, Zanies Rosemont and various other clubs in the Chicago area. A versatile performer, she also has been featured on "Chicago PD," "Empire," and in various commercial work as an actor.

"Comedy Confidential" starts with one of Laurie's stand-up sets, followed by a discussion of her career as an actor and comic with fellow professional actor (and longtime St. Charles resident) Bill Sherry. The program concludes with a Q&A session with the audience.

Wednesdays @ One events are presented free of charge, thanks to the generous support of Colonial Cafe.

The Norris Cultural Arts Center produces Wednesdays @ One events at the Baker Center in cooperation with the St. Charles Park District.

For Halloween week, Wednesdays @ One will present author Bill Pack in an Oct. 26 program examining the life and works of an American writer best remembered for his tales of the macabre, Edgar Allan Poe.

"The Essential Edgar Allen Poe" is, quite simply, the essential things you need to know about influential author Edgar Allan Poe. Author William Pack creates a concise and honest portrait of one of the most important and tragic figures in literature.

On Nov. 30, Terry Lynch will portray "Charles Dickens: A Tale with a Twist," reflecting on the author's life, and discussing some of his best loved holiday works including "A Christmas Carol" and "The Cricket on the Hearth." Lynch entertained and educated the audience last December with his portrayal of St. Nicholas. His Charles Dickens program will get you into the Christmas spirit.
