Industry leaders gather for idea-exchange, to prepare for the future

Submitted by John Coxon

Zengeler Cleaners, the Midwest's oldest and largest family-owned dry cleaner, will host the Fall 2022 Management Concepts conference. Management Concept is a "best of breed" organization limited to the twelve (12) most successful cleaners in the country, serving the industry for 40 years. Membership includes a cross-section of cleaners from across the United States, representing all regions of the country.

Management Concepts is dedicated to helping members develop superior cleaning techniques, customer service, marketing ideas and purchasing efficiencies during an open exchange of ideas and data amongst its members. The organization accomplishes this free flow of information by meeting three times a year, with each session hosted by a different member. The benefit of hosting a session is that other member companies will talk freely with the host company's staff, observe its operating processes and evaluate their equipment before ultimately providing an open and honest critique of all areas of the business. This feedback provides a unique perspective available exclusively through the eyes of industry leaders.

One of the unique aspects of this upcoming meeting is this session will feature a guest speaker, Keisuke Uchikoshi, son of the founder of Sankosha, the leading equipment manufacturer in the industry. Sankosha is best known for developing high quality, efficient equipment, focusing on improving the workflow at every stage of the cleaning process. Mr. Uchikoshi's remarks will include his personal vision for the industry's future.

Additional topics of note for this year's conference include sharing experiences regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and how Member companies navigated those challenge over the last few years. Examples include supply-chain issues, soaring costs and difficulties recruiting employees. Members will also take a step back from their own companies to share each Member's "big-picture" view of the cleaning industry and where each company sees itself both a decade into the future and beyond.
