Access to Care recently received a $49,000 grant award from Northwestern Medicine.

"Northwestern Medicine is committed to making our community as healthy as it can be," said Posh Charles, senior vice president, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare.

"Our goal is to collaborate and support local agencies to address health care disparities across all socioeconomic backgrounds."

"We are excited about this new opportunity from Northwestern Medicine. Access to Care continues to see the ongoing challenges under-resourced communities face in establishing and maintaining good health," said Kathi Franklin, president and CEO of Access to Care.

"This grant will help support our mission of providing low-income, uninsured, and underinsured residents with a primary health care physician right in their own community."

The Suburban Primary Health Care Council developed the Access to Care program in 1988.

Access to Care is a nonprofit primary health care program for low income, uninsured and underinsured residents of suburban Cook County and Northwest Chicago. Services include physician office visits, laboratory and radiology, prescription drugs, and counseling.
