Buddy the Therapy Dog meets residents of Willow Lake Estates
Willow Lake Estates, a manufactured home community for those 55 and older in Elgin, welcomed Buddy the therapy dog to their new clubhouse on Friday morning, July 1, as residents enjoyed their monthly "Coffee & Donuts" get-together.
Buddy, a 4-year-old collie who is blind from birth, was brought to Willow Lake by the Anderson Humane animal welfare organization in hopes of promoting their many programs offered to seniors and veterans.
The organization's "Constant Companion" program, is a volunteer-based, in-home aide program, ensuring pets are cared for and can safely stay at their home.
Volunteers assist seniors and veterans by helping take care of their pets, providing daily walks, rides to the vet or groomer, administering pet medications and helping with any other tasks needed to ensure the pet's well-being.
Buddy the therapy dog was very comfortable meeting the residents of Willow Lake, welcoming all attendees and enjoying all the belly rubs he could get!
More than 50 residents were on hand to meet the adorable, certified therapy dog, and loved hearing about the programs offered by the leading animal welfare organization in the Elgin area.
