Baseball: Adamski's walk-off hit lifts Hersey over Wheeling

Will Adamski's single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored James Denten with the winning run as Hersey got past Wheeling 4-3 Saturday in a Mid-Suburban East baseball game.

AJ Ceffalio had 2 hits for the Huskies (13-10, 6-5) and Luke Picchiotti drove in 2 runs.


Carlos Bontje picked up the win on the mound, pitching the final 2⅓ innings and allowing just 1 hit with 2 strikeouts.

Michael Best had 2 hits and an RBI for Wheeling (10-12, 5-7) while Eric Konrath had 2 hits and Joe Jordan a double for the Wildcats.

Hoffman Estates 4, Palatine 3: Kyle Krogstad drove in 2 runs and Matt Grossi had a double as the Hawks won the MSL West game.

Patrick McGrath earned the win on the mound, going five innings and allowing 5 hits. Ben Herbert earned the save, allowing 1 hit with 3 strikeouts over the final two innings.

Tyler Pecson had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for Palatine (14-11-1, 7-4).

Conant 9, Hoffman Estates 2: In the completion of a suspended MSL West game, Teague Conrad (3 RBI) and Keegan Brandt (2 RBI) each had 3 hits for Conant (8-16, 4-6) while Xander Leary added a triple and an RBI.

Tim Evans earned the win for the Cougars, going 6⅓ innings and allowing 6 hits with 2 strikeouts and a walk. Jordan Acosta and Jim Kliver (2B) each had 2 hits for Hoffman (3-19-2, 2-9).

Prospect 11, Rolling Meadows 0: Tyler Priessing had 2 hits with a home run and 4 RBI to lead the Knights (10-12-1, 5-6) past the Mustangs (4-16, 2-9) in the MSL East.

Also contributing to the win for Prospect were Dan Morgan (2 doubles), Colin Alberts (3 hits, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Tyler Ciulla (2 hits, RBI).

Bryce Jensen earned the five-inning complete game win, allowing 4 hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks.

Fremd 10, Schaumburg 0: Will Cal didn't' allow a hit over four innings as Fremd (13-9, 8-3) rolled to the MSL West win.

Leading the offense for the Vikings were Nick Rattin (3 RBI), Connor Giusti (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and TJ Davis (2 hits).

Alex Bischoff pitched the fifth and final inning for Fremd, allowing 1 hit.

Niko Kolasa had the only hit for Schaumburg (8-13, 4-7).

Elk Grove 5, Buffalo Grove 4: The Grens (11-9, 8-3) scored all their runs in the second inning of this MSL East win.


Zach Schwartz (2B, 2 RBI), Ryne Singsank (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Joey Gaskill (2 hits, 2B) and Josh Periaswamy (2 hits, 2B) led the offense for Elk Grove.

Singsank went 6⅔ innings on the mound for Elk Grove, allowing 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 13.

Bobby Balzano came on for the final out to earn the save for the Grens.

Matt Brunelli had 2 hits including a home run for BG (14-8, 6-5).

Maine West 4, Evanston 2: Michael Lindenmuth had 3 hits with a double and an RBI for Maine West (10-10-1) in its Central Suburban crossover win.

David Roscoe added 2 hits and an RBI and Justin Scholler had 2 hits for the Warriors.

Nick Hernandez threw a complete-game 2-hitter on the mound, striking out four and walking three.

Barrington 6, Lake Zurich 4: A.J. Christoffer (2B, RBI), Max Raynor and Will Koehler (RBI) each had 2 hits for the Broncos (20-5) in their nonconference win and Jon Gardner added a double and an RBI.

Sammy Sabatello, the starter and one of four Barrington pitchers in the game, earned the win.

Christian Liberty sweeps: Ethan Oskroba (2 RBI), David Law (2B, 2 RBI) and Titus Bennett (2B, 2 RBI) led Christian Liberty's offense in a 10-3 Game 1 win over Schaumburg Christian.

Law earned the win on the mound, going five innings with 4 hits, 8 strikeouts and no walks.

In Game 2, Oskroba struck out seven and allowed 3 hits with no walks in four innings as CLA (8-12) won 10-0.

JD Elleson (2 hits, 2 RBI), Bennett (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Law (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI) and John Farish (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) led the offense.

Deerfield 8, Maine South 3: Timmy O'Brien had 2 RBI and Mike Altman a double for Maine South (16-9) in its CSL loss.
