A woman walking near the shoulder of Allen Road in unincorporated Hampshire Township was seriously injured by a pickup truck Tuesday, according to the Kane County sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies responded at 5:08 p.m. to the crash on Allen at Ketchum Road.

Authorities said Jahari Ware, 43, of Aurora was walking near the shoulder of eastbound Allen Road when she was struck by the passenger's- side mirror of a Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Marco Rivera, 48, of Elgin.

Rivera stopped the truck immediately to help Ware, authorities said.

The rural roadway has no sidewalk, but authorities said Ware was not walking on the road.

Ware was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Rivera was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin injuries that were not life-threatening, authorities said.

The crash is under investigation.
