Under a bright sun and blue skies, over 110 golfers, 20 volunteers, and 45 sponsors participated in the North Suburban YMCA's second annual Community Strong Golf Outing and Patio Party on July 21. Held at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling, the outing raised over $40,000 to help provide scholarships for Y programs to families in need and help fortify the Y's future. The outing also included a shop and donate event with J.McLaughlin Clothing of Winnetka and Kendall Scott jewelry of Old Orchard with proceeds being donated to help families in Highland Park.

The golf outing was the second phase of the Y's Community Strong Fundraising events of 2022. Fundraising also included the Community Strong Dinner and Casino night held in May at Loft 21.

"We could not be more pleased with the results of this year's outing. We're so grateful for the support we've received from all of our participants, sponsors, and our community," beamed Kathy Fielding, CEO of the North Suburban YMCA. "These scholarships and the growth of our Y would not be possible without their generous contributions."

Following the day of golf, a closing reception and patio party sponsored by Allstate was held to celebrate the outcome of the fundraising event and recognize the top foursome tournament winners. Taking home a trophy and prizes for lowest team score were Howard Schultz (former CEO/President of the NSYMCA), Ron Goldblatt, Chase Noonan, and Kevin Braude. New this year were awards for the best dressed team which included Northbrook residents Liz Chmiel, Jocelyn Garner, Chris Murphy and Lisa Rudise; and best dressed individual with the prize going to Bob Caldwell from the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce. This year there were more than 40 awards and prizes giving most participants the opportunity to go home a winner.

"Everyone played a part in making this year's golf event a huge success," said Kim Nyren, Director of Community Investments and Events. "We are humbled by the outpouring of support with over 45 sponsors this year. Events like this are not possible without the support of local businesses that sponsor, donate prizes, or volunteer their time. We are very lucky to be in a community that cares about what we do."

"I joined the NSYMCA board this year and strongly believe in what the Y does for our communities," stated Andrew Dempsey, UBS Financial Services -- Northbrook, golf participant and NSYMCA board member. "This golf event brought out golfers of all ages and golf levels which made the event diverse and incredibly entertaining. By far one of the best golf fundraisers I have attended."
