Cain on top in tight race for GOP's 66th House primary
With all precincts counted, it appears Gilberts resident Connie Cain has won the Republican nomination for the 66th state House district.
Unofficial results show Cain with 3,403 votes, to Arin Thrower's 3,339.
Cain wants to work on eliminating some local units of government, including consolidating smaller school districts.
Thrower was elected supervisor of Dundee Township in 2021. She has said that if elected to the General Assembly, she would continue to work as township supervisor.
The winner of the primary will face incumbent Rep. Suzanne Ness of Crystal Lake, an incumbent, in the general election in November. Ness was unopposed in the Democratic primary.
The district includes portions of West Dundee, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, Carpentersville, Elgin, Huntley and Lake in the Hills.
