Why are you running for this office, whether for re-election or election for the first time? Is there a particular issue that motivates you?
I am running for reelection in order to continue to represent the interests of the residents of DuPage County. Economic growth and the best use of ARPA funds are crucial issues at this time.
If you are an incumbent, describe your main contributions. Tell us of any important initiatives you've led. If you are a challenger, what would you bring to the board and what would your priority be?
I am an incumbent.
I have Chaired the Development Committee for my entire ten years on the County Board. In addition to zoning and development issues, our committee has established the Neighborhood Revitalization Program, the Lake Street Corridor study, as well as the Roosevelt Road study. I have also served as Chair of the legislative and Government Affairs Committee and for a short time Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee.
As Chair of the Legislative Committee, I was significantly involved in the distribution of CARES ACT dollars to Municipalities and other entities.
Describe your position regarding the balance between county spending and revenues as it exists today, then describe the chief threats you see looming and how the county should deal with them.
The County spending and revenues are in line with standard procedures as in past years, while taking into account Cares dollars and ARPA funding.
How do you rate the county government on transparency and the public's access to records? If it's adequate, explain why. If you think improvements are needed, delineate them.
The public access to records conforms with all State and Federal laws.
What, if anything, should be done to improve automation and customer service in county offices? What steps should be taken to make that happen?
Automation is a continuing process. The Building and Zoning Department, for example, has permit applications now, on line for builders, developers and homeowners.
