Police investigating multiple burglaries across Glenview, Des Plaines
Cook County sheriff's police are investigating two burglaries and one attempted burglary in Glenview and Des Plaines Sunday.
At 4:26 a.m., police responded to an alarm call from a gas station in the 600 block of Greenwood Road in an unincorporated area near Glenview, where they found the station's glass front door had been shattered.
Footage from the gas station's security camera showed an unidentified individual smash in the glass door with a pry bar, after which they and a group of individuals attempted to dislodge an ATM inside the building, according to police.
Appearing unsuccessful, the group took cash boxes from the register and lighters, and fled the scene.
While investigating, police received an alarm call about a break-in at a nearby business on Greenwood Road's 900 block.
Security camera footage showed an unidentified individual smashing in the business' glass door before a group of individuals attempted to dislodge an ATM.
The group proceeded to take cash, cigarettes and alcohol from the store before fleeing the scene.
At 4:47 a.m., police responded to a third alarm call from the 9700 block of Potter Road in an unincorporated area near Des Plaines. Police found shattered bits of glass around the entrance.
Security camera footage showed two unidentified individuals use pry bars to smash the front door and windows, but they did not attempt to enter the building.
In all three instances, the offenders were seen driving in a black/dark-colored Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and a black/dark-colored Nissan Altima, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing.
