Northfield police reports

Burglary to motor vehicle: Officers responded to the Sunset Ridge Country Club, 2100 Sunset Ridge Road, for a report that a 2014 GMC in the parking lot had been broken into between 2:30 and 3:50 p.m. Several credit cards were taken. The detective is investigating.
Robbery: An employee of a business near Central Avenue and Maple Street was walking to Chase Bank, 400 Central Ave., when a man approached him and stole a deposit envelope with $600 inside. No weapons were displayed or implied. The detective is investigating.
Attempted retail theft: A woman loaded a shopping cart with several cases of beer and tried to leave without paying at Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road. Store employees tried to stop her, but she abandoned the beer and left the store. Mariano's staff asked that the incident be documented.
Neighbor dispute: Two neighbors on the 1900 block of Willow Hill Court were arguing about possible damage to a parked vehicle and, when officers spoke with both of them, they agreed to avoid each other.
Neighbor dispute: A third neighbor tried to start an argument with one of the people involved in the dispute earlier in the day, and the resident who called police asked officers to the document the incident.
Fraud: The owner of a business on the 1700 block of Harding Road told police their bank had reported two unauthorized attempts to cash checks from the business. The bank did not cash either check. The detective is investigating.
Identity theft: A resident of the 200 block of S. Happ Road reported receiving a text they believed to be from the Secretary of State's office asking for personal information. The victim provided the information and later learned the text was not legitimate. The detective is investigating.
Theft: A resident of the 1000 block of Arbor Lane reported three potted plants, worth a total of $80 to $90, were stolen from a patio.
Suspicious incident: Officers saw two men carrying cases of beer running from Mariano's, 1822 Willow Road. Officers were unable to find the men, but they did recover the beer. Mariano's employees told police the men bought the beer and provided proper identification. It's not known why the men ran from the area or why they left the beer.
Suspicious auto: Officers were called to the 0-100 block of Coventry Road for a report of two people sleeping in a vehicle. By the time police arrived, however, the vehicle had left the area.
Criminal trespass to vehicle: A resident of the 200 block of Ingram Street reported reviewing footage from a home camera system and seeing a man enter an unlocked vehicle in the driveway about 4:45 a.m. Nothing was missing from the vehicle. The detective is investigating.
Theft: A Glenview resident reported their golf clubs were stolen sometime between 4 and 8 p.m. July 4 at Sunset Ridge Country Club, 2100 Sunset Ridge Road. The clubs are worth about $4,000. The detective is investigating.
Suspicious phone call: A resident of the 300 block of Linder Avenue reported getting a call from someone who asked for personal information and claimed to be from the Social Security Administration. The person didn't share any information but wanted to document what happened.
Suspicious phone call: A resident of the 2000 block of Arbor Lane reported getting a call from someone who asked for personal information and claimed to be from Medicare. The resident reported the call to Medicare and also asked police to document what happened.
Suspicious phone call: Someone was prank calling Blue Pearl Animal Hospital, 820 W. Frontage Road, and actually called while the officer was there to take a report. The officer advised the subject to stop calling, which the caller agreed to do.
