Nicole Rodrigo has been named the new principal of the Hawthorn School of Dual Language in Vernon Hills-based Hawthorn Elementary District 73.

The appointment was made after a comprehensive search, district officials said. The Algonquin resident starts July 1.

 

She currently is a fifth-grade dual language teacher leader in Barrington Community Unit School District 220, where she has taught at both Grove Avenue and Arnett C. Lines elementary schools. Before that, she taught dual language classes at Channing Elementary in Elgin Area School District U-46.

Rodrigo created and aligned dual language curriculum maps, mentored new teachers, planned and supervised after-school enrichment programs, and organized an in-school math lab, according to District 73.
