Watch Hawthorn District 73 candidates discuss COVID-19, in-person and remote learning

Four candidates seek the three open seats on the Hawthorn School District 73 school board in the April 6, 2021 election. Only one incumbent, Wesley Ann Polen, is on the ballot along with Karl Borchers, Michael Engle and Alma Miranda. The candidates participated in a Daily Herald editorial board Zoom meeting on Friday, Feb. 26 discussing in-person and remote learning, the future of the district and COVID-19. Alma Miranda did not respond to a meeting invitation.
