Principal to move from Des Plaines junior high to Mount Prospect elementary school
The new principal of Friendship Junior High School in Des Plaines will leave at the end of the school year to become principal at Indian Grove Elementary School in Mount Prospect.
Bill Timmins made the announcement in a recent letter to families, before his forthcoming June 15 resignation was approved Monday by the Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59 school board, per its monthly district personnel report.
Timmins was assistant principal at Friendship for five years and spent seven years at Grove Junior High. He was chosen from a field of 80 applicants last year for the $107,500-a-year principal post at Friendship.
There, he replaced Jodi Megerle, who went on to become assistant superintendent of student services in River Trails Elementary District 26. That's the same district that hired Timmins for its Indian Grove Elementary principal position.
District 59 officials said they are kicking off the search process for a new Friendship principal this week.
