Open Gym Dodgeball for children ages 7 to 11 will be offered from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays through Aug. 11 at the York Center Park District, 1609 S. Luther Ave., Lombard. The Warrenville Park District will honor the town's 175th birthday with its first Firecracker 5K Run beginning at 8 a.m. July 4 at the recreation center, 3S260 Warren Ave., Warrenville. The cost is $20 through June 30 and $25 after. Proceeds benefit the park district scholarship fund. Volunteers are needed for race day. The Community Bank of Elmhurst 4 on the 4th will be at 7:15 a.m. July 4 at Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Ave. Proceeds from the four-mile CARA circuit race will benefit the Elmhurst Children's Assistance Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that provides various types of financial assistance to local families facing life-threatening or disabling illnesses.
