Donate PJs at Glen Ellyn's Pajamapalooza 2009
Pajamas are on the long list of things most of us take for granted.
To thousands of homeless children in Illinois, they're a luxury.
That is why Glen Ellyn businesses and schools are teaming up to provide these children with some new PJs.
Pajamapalooza 2009 kicks off Saturday, April 18 at the Bells & Whistles Snackery, 405 Main St. in Glen Ellyn.
While the kickoff pancake breakfast is sold out, children can still take part in a pajama parade around the block, escorted by a police officer.
During this drive, people are asked to donate a new, unwrapped pair of pajamas for boys or girls in sizes ranging from infant to age 18.
E-mail at email@example.com if you have any questions. Donations boxes will be set up around Glen Ellyn between April 20 and May 3.
'Project Runway' star
A familiar designer will be featured at The Women's Club of Inverness' annual spring fashion show - Steven Rosengard, a season four contestant on "Project Runway."
The show, "Celebrating Friendship in Style," will include Rosengard's feminine day dresses, which are reminiscent of Hollywood's Golden Age.
The fashion show fundraiser is from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the Stonegate Conference and Banquet Center in Schaumburg. For reservations, call Karen at (847) 397-8955.
Seventeen at Macy's
Seventeen magazine is co-hosting a "Discover Your Perfect Prom Style Event" at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, on the second floor of the Macy's in Woodfield.
There they'll showcase the latest prom dresses, offer style tips and beauty secrets, and have a contest where one girl can win a free prom dress and have her picture on seventeen.com.
No purchase necessary and there's no cost to attend.
