Construction of two more businesses on the last remaining developable spaces in Rosemont's entertainment district is scheduled for the upcoming year, officials said.
Mayor Brad Stephens said plans are moving along to get shovels in the ground for Pete's Dueling Piano Bar, announced last April, and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership and retail store, announced in August 2017.
An updated lease agreement approved this month by the village board calls for construction of the proposed one-story, 6,000-square-foot piano bar to begin by June 1, 2019, and be complete within a year, though Stephens expects it to take only half that time.
He added that the new language in the 15-year lease deal was requested by the lender for the project team, which is a partnership between Texas-based Pete's, Braden Real Estate and the proprietors of Sugar Factory.
The piano bar, to be situated between the AMC Rosemont 18 movie theater and iFLY indoor sky diving facility, would feature nightly entertainment from four performers rotating in and out on two baby grand pianos set up on stage. It would be the first Pete's location outside Texas.
Though the proposed two-story, 20,000-square-foot Harley store has faced construction delays, Stephens said he's confident it will open in 2019. Windy City Motorcycle Co., which owns and operates 14 Harley locations in the suburbs and southern Wisconsin, inked a lease for space between Hofbrauhaus Chicago and the Big Ten Conference headquarters more than a year ago.
The completion of Harley and the piano bar would bring a total of 15 businesses to the village-owned, 200,000-square-foot Parkway Bank Park.
