First "Sunday Fun Day" coming to Grant High School field house

Updated 2/6/2015 4:02 PM

Families looking for ways to beat the cold are invited to take part Sunday in a new indoor event offered by the Fox Lake Parks and Recreation Department.

"Sunday Fun Day" is a free event that runs from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Grant High School Fieldhouse on Devlin Road.

Fox Lake Parks and Recreation Coordinator Amy Serafin said it will include arts and crafts, and active games such as ladder ball and baggo, table games, basketball, volleyball and acting.

A talent show has also been designed for the kids, she said. It will take place during the final 30 minutes of the event.

"It was a collaboration between the high school and the parks and recreation department," Serafin said. "But, hats off to the Grant High School National Honor Society. They really grabbed the ball and ran with it."

She said the event will be staffed by volunteer high school students and staff members, as well as village volunteers.

Parents are expected to remain on hand throughout the event to help watch their children.

Serafin said preregistration for the event was requested, but openings are still available. Anyone with questions should visit the village website at

"Grant High School has really gone all out for the event," she said. "It should be a lot of fun."
