Sweet and Sour Cran-Apple Sabzi

3 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoons cumin seeds
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoons fennel seeds, crushed
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon red chili
1 teaspoon turmeric
4 green apples, cored and diced
3 tablespoons sugar
¾ cup cranberries
Heat oil in a medium pan. Add cumin and mustard seeds and saute for 2 minutes. Add fennel seeds and stir for 1 more minute. Add salt, turmeric, chili powder, and apples. Stir and cook for 5 minutes. Add sugar and cranberries while cooking for another 8-10 minutes, until apples are soft and tender but not mushy.
Serves six.
