Thousands of families will converge on Chicago's Lincoln Park on Saturday for a benefit walk to help raise awareness about severe food allergies.
The Food Allergy Research & Education group, better known as FARE, says one out of every 13 schoolchildren in the U.S. is at risk for a whole-body reaction known as anaphylaxis. Common foods like nuts, milk or eggs can trigger life-threatening swelling and low blood pressure.
Does anyone in your family suffer from a food allergy? Is your home a nut-free zone? How hard is it to reduce exposure to potentially lethal allergens?
