A resident of a rural Huntley home that went up in flames early Monday evening was able to escape without injury, according to authorities.

Huntley firefighters and firefighters from a number of neighboring towns responded to the two-story home at 39W596 Huntley Road just after 6 p.m. Monday, according to fire officials.

A stretch of traffic on Huntley Road was shut down while firefighters battled the blaze, which was pouring smoke into the sky.

Firefighters remained at the scene as of 9:45 p.m.
