Kaneland, Carlson roll Yorkville
Jan 15, 2022 10:25 PM - Yorkville recognized the threat Kaneland sophomore Troyer Carlson posed during Saturday's nonconference game in Maple Park, but didn't do enough to stop him. The Foxes couldn't slow his teammates either as Carlson led four Knights scoring in double figures with 19 points as Kaneland rolled to a 72-57 victory.

Hersey bowls over BataviaJan 15, 2022 10:18 PM - In the final two minutes of the third quarter, Katy Eidle was knocking down 3-pointers like bowling pins. Hersey's senior sharpshooter hit three in a row in a span of 98 seconds for a 9-0 run that all but sealed a 65-36 Saturday afternoon matinee victory over visiting Batavia at the Carter Gymnasium.

Conant knocks off Wheeling for 10th winJan 15, 2022 10:14 PM - Saturday's area boys basketball schedule received a bonus game tossed into its lineup when Conant and Wheeling tipped off in a Mid-Suburban League crossover on the Wildcats' home floor. Conant was seeking to bounce back after a tough MSL West road loss at Barrington Friday night against a Wheeling team that was coming off earning its first MSL East win against Elk Grove less than 24 hours earlier. Conant would grab that momentum in the game's first period and took full utilization as it successfully moved past the host Wildcats 54-33 to earn its 10th win of the season.

With the Dukes trailing most of the game against highly ranked Marist, Blass and Baldridge played nearly the entire game, hoping to gain valuable insight from the experience.

That's exactly what happened Saturday in the semifinals of the 9th annual MLK boys basketball tournament at Lake Zurich. It was Libertyville that found its wheels first as the Wildcats knocked off Glenbrook North 52-38.

Burlington Central routs Wheaton North to reach MLK title gameJan 15, 2022 7:46 PM - Wheaton North crashed in on Zac Schmidt trying to trap him on his first pass. Schmidt, Burlington Central's senior, calmly dribbled out of the jam and found Gavin Sarvis flying from left to right along the baseline.
