Graduation ceremony: Thursday, May 26, at the Now Arena, Hoffman Estates

Class Officers: Sarah Larson and Cassidy Zaslavsky

Academic achievements:

• Andrew Brooks and Ryan McGrory received the IHSA All-State Academic Team Award

Extracurricular achievements:

• Several members of the WYSE team competed in the Illinois Academic Challenge State Finals competition virtually on Friday, April 8. When the results were tallied, Aamir Tanveer was recognized as a medalist and awarded 4th place for his performance in English the Unlimited Division. The other state qualifiers were Sara Dowden (English), Belinda Li (English, Math), Molly Muscato (English), Nikhil Patel (Math), and Shri Patil (English). Congratulations to all of the members of the WYSE team for their outstanding work and achievements this year! The team is sponsored by Pete Dawson and Brandon Murchison.

• The LHS Mathematics Team placed sixth at the ICTM State Math Contest.

• The LHS Academic Decathlon team finished 11th out of 40 teams in the state competition held online on March 5. The Academic Decathlon team is composed of students from different academic levels. Each student competes in 10 different academic disciplines: math, science, literature, economics, music, art, speech, essay, interview and super quiz. This year's team consisted of Keegan Jasser, Maya Hoffmann, Charles Hanson, Rayna Turchi, and Elias Erizi, Joudy Sabry, Sarah Jacobs, and Aidan O'Connell. The team is coached by science teacher Mark Buesing

Athletic achievements:

• Josh Knudten won the IHSA Class 3A 182-pound wrestling state championship

• North Suburban Conference Championship Teams: Girls Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Boys Bowling, Girls Bowling, Wrestling.

• State Qualifying Teams: Girls Cross Country, Football, Girls Bowling, Cheerleading, Dance, Wrestling

Theater productions:

• "Matilda" the musical

• "A Midsummer Nights Dream"

What challenges did the Class of 2022 face as they returned to in-person school full time, and how did they overcome them: Students had to relearn how to manage the daily stresses and pressures that come with attending a large school on a daily basis.

What was new in 2021-22: Libertyville Environmental Action Force Club led by sponsor Dave Lapish designed and built an outdoor classroom and courtyard on the Libertyville High School Campus consisting of indigenous plants, grasses, trees, flowers and hardscape features.

Principal's reflections on the Class of 2022: The Class of 2022 will long be remembered as the senior class that helped to restore our school traditions and renew our school spirit. On the night before school started, our administration met with our entire senior class and we discussed how important it would be for them to be leaders and to teach the younger students -- some of whom had never been in high school -- our school's traditions and core values. The next day, literally hundreds of seniors showed up and lined our main entrance to cheer and greet the underclassmen. This energy continued throughout the year -- the Class of 2022 came out in droves to support our athletic events and our fine arts programs. The Class of 2022 exhibited tremendous school spirit as they demonstrated a genuine commitment to restoring and renewing our high school's great history and traditions.
