On Tuesday, July 12, the Cary-Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Chamber of Commerce, co-hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of Antigua Mexican Brunch and Grill, 2160 Lake Cook Road in Algonquin.

Antigua Mexican Brunch and Grill is the second location for owner, Luis Rodriquez. Rodriguez opened his first location, Antigua Mexican Grill, 1500 Carlemont Dr., Unit J, in Crystal Lake, in 2018.

With the success of the first location, Rodriquez was ready to expand and bring the original flavors of his Mexican cuisine to Algonquin. The authentic recipes Antigua Mexican Brunch and Grill brings to the community are based on the original recipes handed down to him through his mother and grandmother.

"The word 'Antigua' is a Castilian word which translates into 'Old' or better yet 'Ancient'," says Rodriguez, "We name our restaurants 'Antigua' because our Mexican cuisine is crafted from ancient recipes."

The new location adds brunch selections to the menu and extended hours earlier in the day. In addition to a full menu of traditional and original Mexican dishes, the also offer signature cocktails, desserts, and a children's menu.
