The Garden Club of Inverness hosted its annual spring luncheon at the Inverness Golf Club Thursday, May 19. A primary goal of the club is to give back to the community.

This year, Garden Club of Inverness was honored to offer $12,000 in total scholarships to six students planning to major in environmentally-related fields. This was made possible because of the successful holiday luncheon fundraiser held last December.

Save the date for the next annual GCI holiday luncheon at Medinah Country Club on Thursday, Dec. 1. The theme will be "Winter Wonderland."

The scholarship recipients were: Malika Malhotra and Olivia Messengers, University of Illinois, majoring in environmental economics and policy; Jackson Wheat, Eckert College, marine biology; Tyler Manzardo, University of Wisconsin, horticultural science; John Crossin, University of Illinois, plant biotechnology/plant science; and Paige Bowman, environmental engineering/plant science.

Applicants must reside in High School District 211 or in the Barrington High School area. Applications are considered in the early part of the year. More information regarding this process is available at www.gardenclubofinverness.com.

The Garden Club of Inverness officers for 2022-2023 were also installed at the luncheon: Janet Sweno, president; Patty Branham and Kathy Zweidinger, co-first vice presidents, programs; Shirley Putnam, second vice president, special events; Judi Ray, treasurer; Carolyn Mills, recording secretary; Deb Dompke, corresponding secretary; and Nancy Kaye, director at large.
