The kids were surprised and impressed, while the seniors were spirited and driven. A group of students from Frost Junior High School in Schaumburg took on a team of residents at Friendship Village senior living community in Schaumburg for a rousing game of seated floor hockey. The friendly competition resulted in the Friendship Village team soundly defeating the students in the first round. According to Jeannette Magdaleno, manager of lifelong learning and volunteer services at Friendship Village, the second round was a real "nail biter" going into sudden death before the students won.

The senior living community's pom squad provided pre-game entertainment with their dance routine set to Elvis Presley's "Burning Love."

The students were members of a service group sponsored by the Rotary Club of Schaumburg. "A teacher accompanying the students told me that they were surprised at how well the residents played, especially when they learned that one of the goalies is 95. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to a rematch,"said Magdaleno.
