Local author to hold May 21 signing for book on mental health awareness
Maralee Parker, vice president of NAMI, Kane County North affiliate, has published a book, "Unexpected, A Memoir of Endurance and Triumph in Raising a Challenging Child."
This book chronicles the journey of the Parkers' experiences in raising their adopted daughter after diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, Asperger's and bipolar disorder.
The book was written to encourage others in similar situations; to educate those who have no clue, and to thank God for His faithfulness in answering prayer. Maralee will be at an author signing at Barnes & Noble in Algonquin Commons from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 21.
