Did you discover some dull knives a few weeks ago when prepping your holiday dinner? Don't let that happen for your next holiday! Gather those knives, scissors and tools and bring them to a Sharpening by Dave event at the Arlington Heights Historical Museum on the second Sunday of every month from 2-4 p.m. The next sharpening event will be this Sunday, Dec. 12. You can find Sharpening by Dave's van parked on the museum grounds at 110 W. Fremont, Arlington Heights. No reservations are needed.

Dave is an experienced knife sharpener who travels throughout Chicagoland offering on-site and off-site sharpening, as well as specialty sharpening and expert tips and tricks.


Sharpening by Dave will sharpen knives, cleavers, scissors (including pinking shears and hair scissors), and more. Items are sharpened inside a mobile van practicing social distancing. To view a complete list of services, visit All service questions should be directed to Dave at or (847) 354-2547.

For every item sharpened, Dave donates $1 to the Arlington Heights Historical Society. The Historical Society is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to collect, preserve and present the history of Arlington Heights. Sharpening proceeds go towards fulfilling this mission. The Historical Society is a volunteer, member-funded organization that is a partner of the Arlington Heights Historical Museum.
