Dr. Barbara Buttin Joins Impressive Roster of Specialty Physicians at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion
Barbara M. Buttin, MD, a board-certified and fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist, is a recent addition to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) physician roster.
Dr. Buttin earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine (Hahnemann University) in Philadelphia, PA., followed by a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Having previously practiced at several hospitals in Chicago, Dr. Buttin is no stranger to the community. She joined CTCA in September 2021 for the opportunity to help grow the hospital's gynecologic oncology program and serve women with cancers that start in the reproductive organs - cervical, ovarian, uterine, vaginal, vulvar.
With expertise in da Vinci robotic-assisted and minimally invasive surgery and a special emphasis on enhancing quality of life, Dr. Buttin continuously works to provide her patients with new and innovative treatment options. As an accomplished clinical research scientist with a focus on translational research, Dr. Buttin has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, abstracts, book chapters and case reports on topics related to gynecologic oncology. She has been recognized for her work with awards such as the Northwestern Memorial Foundation Young Investigator Award and the Sidney Kimmel Foundation for Cancer Research Kimmel Translational Science Award.
Dr. Buttin has held several academic teaching positions and was previously the recipient of the annual Outstanding Teacher Award given by students at Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine. She is also currently a member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, where she has served on the education and clinical practice committees, and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
