Animal Education and Rescue in Libertyville is featuring several dogs during Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, held every October.

AEAR is dedicated to bringing people and animals together through education, therapy and rescue. Unlike traditional animal shelters, AEAR is foster based, which means the animals reside in homes with foster families who get to know them and share important information with prospective adopters.

Jazzy, a 12-year-old female pit bull terrier, and Nadia, a 2-year-old Labrador retriever/pit mix, are being fostered by Nicole Piszkiewicz and her family.

Despite being let down by her former owners, Jazzy is thriving in Nicole's home and enjoys playing with the young dogs in her residence. She is the perfect dog for those who have a heart for seniors, and her adoption fee has been reduced to account for any future medical needs.

Nadia is an energetic and a loyal dog and a great companion to sit by the fireplace and snuggle on a cold winter night. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard or with people who like to walk or run.

Nadia came to AEAR with her two puppies, who have been adopted. She will do best in a household without cats and with teenage kids.

Looking for a puppy? Peaches is a 7-month-old ball of fun. This adorable, active Labrador retriever loves people and other dogs. She is being fostered by AEAR founder Sandy Kamen Wisniewski and her family. Already housebroken, Peaches' ideal family will commit to training, spending time and loving this awesome girl. There are also several recently born puppies who will be available for adoption soon.

AEAR serves Lake County and surrounding areas. To learn about the organization or view all adoptable pets, visit www.aear.org and follow www.facebook.com/aear.org.
