Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, Helps Sunny Hill Elementary With Supplies
The Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, in Barrington, IL, provided an abundance of vital supplies at the beginning of the 2021 school year for the children and teachers at Sunny Hill Elementary School in Carpentersville, IL. Over 1,200 items were donated including Sunshine Boxes for Kindergartners, 1st and 2nd Graders; and gift bags for 5th Graders that included items on the school's supply list.
Additional donated items included: back packs, nut-free snacks, a teacher basket with coffee, tea and snacks, a sanitizing basket with masks and wipes, a labels and stickers basket, along with various binders and folders. The Chapter plans to deliver a monthly supply of snacks and supplies throughout the school year.
Sunny Hill Elementary School Principal, Cynthia Armendariz-Maxwell, expressed her gratitude for all of the beautifully labeled items arriving the day before the start of school. She said, "Now all of the students will have new supplies to start the school year!"
DAR members who coordinated the donation effort were Joyce Moynihan, Community Classroom Chair, Joyce Wright, Chapter Regent, and Chapter members Joan Kornfeind, Kathy Boyle, and Deb Edlund.
The Signal Hill Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) was founded in Barrington, IL in 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women's service organization and lineage society headquartered in Washington, DC. Since its founding in 1890 over one million women have joined both nationally and around the world.
The local Barrington Chapter raises funds throughout the year and distributes them to 501 (c) (3) organizations whose missions support that of NSDAR: historic preservation, education, conservation, and patriotism.
