It's the holiday season and time for Murna Hansemann's annual Christmas concert.

A "Night of Christmas Music" is set for 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Evangelical Covenant Church, 1565 Larkin Ave. in Elgin.

Murna will be performing, along with guest artists soprano Rise Jones of Elgin, soprano Solange Sior of Elgin and tenor Franco Martorana of Schaumburg.

There will be special music by the Salvation Army Brass Ensemble.

A reception will follow the event. A free-will offering is optional.

Hansemann is an accompanist for several local artists including Diva Montell, Rise Jones and Jeorge Holmes.

Martorana is an Italian tenor and member of "The Other 3 Tenors" who combine an operatic performance with humor.

Sior is founder of Fox Valley Lyrical Productions (formerly known as Soiree Lyrique), with a mission to nourish a greater appreciation of the classical vocal arts and to educate through professional performances and community outreach programs. She has performed with many organizations in the Midwest and in Canada including the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Light Opera Works, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, and Elgin Choral Union.

Jones is the founder of Hamilton Wings, an enrichment program that uses arts-immersion activities to promote leadership, self-development, and academic readiness among youth in the Elgin community.
