Bartlett police Monday arrested a Streamwood man who later was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after authorities say he fled a traffic stop.

In addition to the felony weapons charge, Jamaryl Spaulding, 24, faces misdemeanor counts of resisting a peace officer, driving on a revoked license and illegal possession of cannabis, police said.

Spaulding also received a traffic citation for speeding.

Authorities said a Bartlett police officer stopped the 2015 Chrysler 200 Spaulding was driving for speeding west on Stearns Road at 11:10 a.m. Monday.

Spaulding ran from the vehicle but was caught about a quarter mile away, police said.

Following an investigation, Bartlett police alleged that Spaulding possessed a loaded Ruger 57 handgun and illegally possessed cannabis.

He was taken to the DuPage County jail, where bail was set at $7,000, police said.
