Downers Grove police are asking the public to help identify a man who held up a tobacco and vape shop at knifepoint Sunday morning.

No one was injured at the American Tobacco and Vape store, 4242 Main St., when a man wearing a black ski mask walked into the business at about 11:40 a.m. He showed the store clerk a knife and demanded cash, then fled north on foot with the proceeds into a residential neighborhood, according to police.

The thief is described as Black, 18 to 25 years old, who was wearing a navy-blue hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes, and a ski mask that partially covered his face.

Detectives canvassed the area north of the shop Sunday afternoon, asking residents for assistance. The shop is located in a busy strip mall at the northwest corner of Ogden Avenue and Main Street.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Downers Grove Police at (630) 434-5600.
