Glenview Holiday in the Park & Parade is back; get ready for Brews, Bites & Shopping
Santa Claus headlines a strong cast at Glenview's 25th Holiday in the Park & Parade.
Returning as an active parade after COVID-19 limited last year's event to a Holiday Drive-Through stationary "parade," 32 groups will make their way down a half-mile stretch of Glenview Road from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove St., to Jackman Park. It runs from 4 to 6 p.m. this Saturday, Nov. 27.
"This is a beloved Glenview tradition that was started decades ago, and it's just a wonderful way to kick off the holidays," said Meghan Kearney, executive director of the Glenview Chamber of Commerce, which organized the event.
The Glenbrook South Marching Titans, the Glenbrook South Titan Poms, the North Shore YMCA Dance Troupe, Northshore Elite Talent Company and School of Rock Glenbrook all will perform during the event.
Also joining the parade will be Glenview Village President Mike Jenny, state Sen. Laura Fine, state Rep. Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz and Cook County Commissioner Scott Britton.
Once the procession reaches Jackman Park, Santa and his helpers will greet children with a gift, for as long as those gifts last.
Kids can take photos with Santa and hop on a kiddie train ride. Parade spectators can enjoy hot chocolate, cookies and a hayride.
"I would encourage everyone to come out," Kearney said.
"This is a way our Glenview businesses are thanking the community for shopping local all year long."
But wait -- there's more.
Holiday Bites, Brews & Shopping arrives at the grand ballroom of The Glen Club, 2901 W. Lake Ave., from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1.
Traditionally held near the end of April, COVID-19 precautions pushed the event back to the holidays this year. Usually a craft beer festival combined with a "taste of Glenview," local vendors have been added this time.
"It's a really fun event," Kearney said.
Eateries and shops on the menu include Blended Health & Smoothie Bar, Cafe El Tapatio, Cafe Lucci, Forza Meats, The Glen Club, Glenview Grind and Johnny's Kitchen & Tap.
Beverages will be provided from a group including Alarmist Brewing, Sketchbook, Stunt Brewing and Tangled Roots Brewing Company.
Vendors include Coronet Collection, Country Classics, Gail's Brownies and Gigi's Closette.
Cost to attend is $25 for Glenview Chamber of Commerce members, and $35 for others.
"This event looks a little bit different this year, but our intent is still to support our local businesses, so come out and show your support," Kearney said.
