Naperville police are searching for two suspects accused of ordering a man and his 4-year-old son out of their car, taking the man's phone then driving away in the stolen SUV Monday night.

Police say the suspects approached the victim's vehicle about 8 p.m. on the 2100 block of Allegre Circle, in the Bristol Station apartment complex. One showed a handgun and they demanded the man's cellphone and keys to his vehicle, a red 2016 Nissan Rogue, authorities said.

Police said the man complied and got out of the car with his son, then watched the offenders drive away. No one was injured.

The suspects are both described as black men about 20 years old, police said.

The first stood about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a thick build, dark skin and dark curly hair. Police said he was wearing a hooded sweatshirt of an unknown color.

The second suspect is described as shorter than the first, wearing a mask and a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a handgun.

Police encourage residents, if ever involved in a robbery, to comply with all demands and never do anything to jeopardize personal safety.

Anyone with information about Monday night's robbery is asked to contact investigators at (630) 420-6666.

Cmrd. Lou Cammiso said this was the third armed robbery in Naperville so far this year. The other two were reported in January after the city experienced a string of six armed robberies between Nov. 27 and Dec. 21.
