Letter: Writer should be welcomed
I was very moved by the guest view article by Yahir Rodriguez-Sanchez wanting so badly to become a citizen of the U.S. after having lived here most of his life and wanting to be better able to help provide for his mother and siblings by getting a higher education and then a good job.
As it is, he has already been working three jobs, 30 hours per week while attending high school. I am sure there are many stories like this.
My English ancestors arrived in Massachusetts in 1649. I have no idea what they had to do, if anything, to be citizens of this country. However, I do not believe I have any more right to be a citizen just because my ancestors arrived here long before this young man.
He sounds like just the sort of person we should welcome to our country.
