The programming will include visual displays throughout the Y's facility located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook. "Black Resistance" explores how African Americans have resisted historic and ongoing oppression, including slavery and the racial terrorism of lynching, racial pogroms and police killings. The Underground Railroad refers to the network used by enslaved Black Americans to obtain their freedom in the 30 years before the Civil War. The Railroad soon became a catalyst for propaganda as both the abolitionists and slave owners used tales of escape to gain popular support for their cause.
