A variety of dance, music, poetry and art created by students and faculty will be the focus of the College of Lake County's 17th Fear No Art festival April 24-26. CLC dancers and musicians will also present a new collaborative project, four movements from a ballet called "My Sense of Everything."

The ballet's score was composed by CLC music faculty member and drummer David Jennings, with choreography by CLC dance faculty. Jennings' score, which contains elements of jazz and classical music, will be played by an ensemble that includes Dr. Michael Flack, CLC music professor and jazz pianist, and other members of the David Jennings Acoustic Ensemble.

Performances will be Friday and Saturday, April 24 and 25, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. The artistic director of Fear No Art is Valerie Alpert, CLC dance instructor.

The music, dance and poetry portion of the program will include original choreography by CLC students and faculty, set to music by artists ranging from Tracy Chapman to Henry Mancini. Original poetry will be presented by North Rory Homeward. Several singers will perform a wide range of music, including songs by Bruno Mars, Janis Joplin and original works.

The student choreographers are Amy Cole, Bracha Klein, Megan Iosue, Sue Lee, Sara Schoenberger and Annabella Tidei.

The dancers are: Laura Balinski, Amy Cole, Josa Comstock, Caitlin Cone, Daniel Conway, Anna Erdman, Jamie Hansen, Katiria Infante, Alana Johnson, Chris Kappil, Johanna Kuhl, Angie Leone, Dani Oilschlager, Suzanne Mena, Haley Reckling, Sara Schoenberger, Heather Sells, Hannah Shaffstall, Michelle Stone, Annabella Tidei and Kristine Boyce-Zanello.

The second half of Fear No Art will feature four of eight movements of "My Sense of Everything." The ensemble consists of 12 musicians, five of which form a traditional jazz quintet. The unique mixture of instruments allows for colorful orchestrations of the rich harmony.
